Kitchen Wall
As part of the kitchen "update" we have cut the base trim (in this photo) and framed in a new wall at the W side of the refrigerator. We did this to hide the side of the fridge view, and provide some sound buffer from the compressor and provide some wall space. I also added an "art nook" to display a little pottery in a built-in way. long term plans will also include removing the upper cabinets above the counter (so it will be less closed in) and adding cabinets above the refrigerator. 
Another view showing the whole new wall. We discovered about 18" of space above the E side of the ceiling, so long term we will probably also tear out the ceiling and replace with a sloped one with alot more headroom.
Me putting in the second drywall piece. We haven't yet done the mud and taping - pretty intimidating! We'll probably get to that once the month of weddings is over.
