Chimney Work

Chimney Work - Mar 07 - After the Windstorms in November we were terrified of our chimney. It was separated from the house probably in the 2001 earthquake, and the windstorm finished the job so that the only thing holding the chimney in place (for our woodstove) was the inner liner. The insurance company covered much of the cost - here are a few photos of demolition, and the new chimney being finished (check out Louisa in the window). The chimney only extends to about chest height in the living room (brick was expensive in 1911) and we had to demo down to the attic floor to add seismic straps. We also strengthened the wd post directly below the chimney.
